Everything of my cat grass was looking good until I’d found some mold on the cat grass on Day 14 🙁 I don’t know what has caused the mold. But before I find out how to deal with this mold problem, I’ve just moved my bowl of cat grass to the balcony. Hopefully, better air circulation will ease the problem a bit.

When I was doing some research on the benefits of cat grass for cats and other pets, I got all confused and was starting to wonder if what I am growing now is actually not cat grass.
After more research, I have learned that the term “cat grass” is quite a loose term. In many websites, cat grass actually includes a large number of young grass species. Common oat, flax, barley, and even catnip (Nepeta cataria) which is not even a grass at all, are called cat grass in many websites.

As the shop owner said, cat grass is really easy to grow! And the grasses grow very fast too, growing about an inch every day! I think cat grass will make a good present for my friend who keeps telling me how much she loves plant yet always kills whatever she tries to grow 🙂

Last morning, I found some cat grass seeds had started germinating.

I have heard of cat grass in a gardening forum before. Yet, since I have no cat at home, I have never given much thought about growing it, but only until recently, when I am planning to make a tabletop container garden for a friend who is a cat lover.
So, a few days ago, I went to the flower market hoping to find some cat grass. And with my luck, I found a store that sold cat grass seeds.

It was really windy last week. The wind was blowing fiercely that my two pots of magic beans kept toppling so often that I finally gave up getting out to the balcony and trying to keep them straight. It was then I knew I should find a more suitable place for my climbing plants as soon as possible, somewhere with good support for the vines to grow, avoiding the plants from collapsing.
And I am happy that I have found a water pipe which I have never taken any notice of until now.
Haha! Anyways, I hope it works 🙂

Ok! Here is a lesson that I have learned recently – Don’t try to save ourselves some work by planting our houseplant in a container too large, for we could damage or even kill our plants!

A few weeks ago, my father knocked down the two cacti in my tabletop garden – My Star when he was rushing to the windows to save the carpet and furniture from getting wet by a sudden rain.
Actually I should have anticipated this… After playing and observing this tabletop garden for a while, I have found its design deficiency – weak support. The red and yellow cacti were very tall, yet, lack of strong support. There were neither plants nor rocks to provide the cacti with enough support.

I didn’t pay much attention to my magic beans after I repotted my plants and put them in the balcony. And when I checked them out a few days later, I found that the “I Love You” bean and the “I Like You” bean had already grown so much.
It is not until later, after some quick research, did I learn that many climbing plants are actually fast growers. Hmm… may be my magic beans are ones of these fast growing climbers huh.

2 out of my 6 magic beans are growing very fast, and the crystal soil can no longer hold up these big and heavy plants stably anymore. It is definitely time for me to repot these magic beans into a bigger container. And instead of growing these plants indoor in crystal soil, I have let my magic beans grow in regular soil outside my balcony.
I didn’t check my magic beans for a few days after day 20. And when I did, I was surprised by how fast some of them had grown 😯
