While I was researching on how to cultivate moss, I found something very cool! Moss Graffiti! Have you heard of it or seen it in your neighborhood before? If you live in Philadelphia, you might have seen some last year in the Market East Station, as well as the Transportation Museum.

This is inspiring. Moss graffiti is a great way to bring the nature closer to the city, where the dwellers are often too busy with their day-to-day lives and donโt find time to slow down and appreciate the nature. Maybe a living and playful art like moss graffiti can catch some attention of these city dwellers while they are on their way to work or to their childrenโs nurseries.ย And remind them that in order to enjoy nature, there is no need of a garden or a day trip to the botanical park. All we need is to slow down our pace a little, and we will find the nature is, in fact, all around us.
Here is an interesting post in Environmental Graffiti featuring 20 masterpieces of green graffiti, as well as introducing two moss graffiti artists, Edina Tokodi and Anna Garforth, and a recipe for growing our own moss graffiti (which I surely will give it a try ๐ ).

Am totally with you on how brilliantly moss is being used. Have a look at what these gals have done too: http://themoderngardener.wordpress.com/2009/03/10/moss-graffiti-art/
Thank you for stopping by. This moss graffiti is really cool, isn’t it? I wonder how can they make it so neat. Do you think adding some pottery clay can make it work?
Sandy, Andrea Bellamy at Heavy Petal has a post on her moss ‘slurry’ method which I’ve always wanted to try. http://heavypetal.ca/archives/2007/04/operation-moss-graffiti/
The El&Abe moss is just so perfect though that I am sure they have some magic moss carpet that they carve out of!
The Modern Gardener – Thank you for the link. I love the photos there. This will be very helpful when I make my moss slurry ๐
Sandy, moss gardening is awesome. Would love to try the moss graffiti as well!

Stephanie – Yes! very interesting, isn’t it!? Let me give it a try and update you with the progress later ๐

Jan – Yes! It’s green, it’s living, and it’s very environmental friendly too!
I was just wondering if it has a life span? or can it be kept alive through regular watering? Also, do i evcer run the risk of it falling off hte place i put it?
